Demetria M. McNeal, PhD, MBA is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is a communication scientist who specializes in racial disparities in cardiovascular disease outcomes and inequities in care delivery. Though Dr. McNeal’s work raises question of (in)equity, justice, and communication across the healthcare landscape, she truly seeks to identify what happens across the communication continuum that hampers relationships. Dr. McNeal’s newly released book, You Don’t Say, provides a practical approach, coupled with real-world examples to understanding foundational concepts to improve interpersonal communication.
