Breaking Barriers How to Tell Asian American Stories

There have been numerous barriers that have hindered the ability for Asian American stories to be told in the past.

One of these barriers is the lack of representation within the industry, both on screen and behind the scenes.

Another barrier is the presence of gatekeepers in the industry who have the power to decide what stories get told and which do not.

This lack of diversity in leadership can make it difficult for underrepresented voices to be heard and for change to be implemented.

For example, when Oliver Chin first started working in New York, he noticed that there were very few Asians in positions of power at the largest publisher in America, making it challenging for Asian perspectives to be included in the company's decision-making processes and for change to be pushed for within the industry.
