👥 Racism against Asian Americans in the 1950s was also prevalent and deeply ingrained in American society.

This was in part due to the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, which resulted in a wave of anti-Asian sentiment fueled by fears of communism and economic competition.

Many Asian Americans were subjected to discrimination and violence, with some even facing internment and deportation based on their ancestry.

Asian Americans were often stereotyped as exotic and foreign, and their cultures and languages were denigrated.

The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which had barred Chinese immigrants from entering the country, was still in effect until its repeal in 1943, and other restrictive immigration policies were put in place to limit the number of Asian immigrants allowed to enter the United States.

In many ways, the 1950s was a time when Asian Americans were considered second-class citizens, with their contributions to society and their rights as individuals largely ignored and disregarded. 🚫🧑‍🤝‍🧑
