Rewiring the Corporate Brain for DNI

In 2021, Cordell Carter created a documentary titled "The Road Trip to Belonging."

The film featured conversations with top executives from Fortune 10 Companies, all of whom held positions related to diversity, equity, and belonging.

He found out one company, the nation's largest employer, had been championing these values since 2006. They believed that as a reflection of the nation, they had a responsibility to foster a sense of belonging among their employees. 🌏

Over the course of 15 years, they methodically rewired their corporate culture. When societal issues flared up, such as the George Floyd incident, there was surprisingly little internal uproar. The company had already undergone a transformation.

This is a testament to the power of a systematic approach. Sometimes, organizations need to hit the pause button, reassess, and start afresh. 🔄

The story of this company serves as a powerful reminder that change is possible, and that it begins with a willingness to stop and rethink our approach.
