The Real Struggle of Dual Identities

Born in the heart of South Korea, Grace Yung Foster was abruptly uprooted from her cultural roots. 🇰🇷

Stripped of her language, her food, her heritage, she found herself navigating through white spaces, devoid of the familiar.

As she journeyed into adulthood, encounters with fellow Asians made her realize a stark truth. She was not the same depth of Asian as they were. 🎎

Her inability to identify with her own heritage, a consequence of never being allowed to embrace or celebrate it, led to a personal struggle with internalized racism.

Grace's story is a poignant reminder of the narratives we often carry within us, narratives shaped by the white culture we inhabit and the pervasive influence of colonialism. 🏮

As a nation, we are all navigating these complex layers of identity and culture, striving to find our place in the grand tapestry of life.
