Where Are the Asian Dolls? - A Mother's Fight for Representation in the Toy Industry

Elenor Mak, a San Francisco resident, had an experience that many of us can relate to.

She was on a simple mission: to find a doll for her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. 🎎

But what should have been a straightforward task turned into a journey of disbelief and frustration. Despite living in a diverse city in 2022, Elenor couldn't find a single doll that resembled her daughter or any Asian child she knew. 😮

This disappointment soon turned into a powerful motivation. Elenor realized that this was about more than just representation. It was about instilling pride in our children about their culture and heritage. 🏮

And so, Jilly Bing was born. A company dedicated to creating characters that showcase Asian American cultures in fun and joyful ways.

Because every child deserves to see themselves represented in the toys they play with. 🧸
